Dear Father,
Thank You for this simple gift that is to know to You, and able to write my thoughts down in simple English.

I pray that whatever I wrote in this blog recently and will write in the future will be benefiting those who read. I pray also that what they read, they will see no one but my true self.

Help me to remember what You are doing in my life, and this blog will serve as a reminder for me. Help also those who come here to see who You are to me and who we all are to You.

cones & rods

yoo hoo!

this is something i learned during lesson today.

in the human retina, there are 2 types of receptors. cones and rods.

number of cone cells: about 6 to 7 million.
photopic vision - enable us to see things and colours during the day under normal lighting.

number of rod cells: about 75 to 150 million.
scotopic vision - enable us to see under dim light.

i'm glad that i am able to see the beautiful colours and all of God's creation. but i'm even more thankful for the ability to see under dim light.

similarly, i think it is like having the ability to see where we are going in our life. the scotopic vision is what we need so that we are enabled to find the correct way in this world where there are a lot of distractions and people doing different kinds of things to live their life. if we didn't have enough rods, we won't be able to do that. in fact, we will be in confusion, feeling lost and fearful of the surrounding. we might be following others and it may not lead to our destination. that's why we have so many rods in our retina, isn't it? providing us with the vision, wisdom and discernment so that we be clear and watch the path we are taking on, making sure we won't go to the wrong direction and able to find the exit of darkness.

100th post; what will we do in heaven?

" The first one is serving (Revelation 22:3). Perhaps we'll explore an unknown corner of the universe, or, as C. S. Lewis suggests, govern a distant star. Whatever that service may entail, there will be no sense of inadequacy, no weakness, no weariness. In heaven we'll have minds and bodies equal to the task to which we're assigned.

The second activity is seeing: We "shall see His face" (v.4). "Now we see in a mirror, dimly" (1 Corinthians 13:12), but in heaven we shall see our Savior face to face, and we "shall be like Him" (1 John 3:2). This is what Revelation 22:4 means when it says, "His name shall be on their foreheads." The name of God represents His perfect character, so to bear His name means to be like Him. In heaven we will never again struggle with sin but will reflect the beauty of His holiness forever.

Finally, there is reigning. We shall serve our King by ruling and reigning with Him "forever and ever" (v.5)"

"Jesus said, "You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve" (Matthew 4:10). It's interesting to note that Jesus did not say praise and serve. Even the briefest examination of the word praise in the Bible quickly shows it's a verbal thing and that for the most part singing. Worship however is from the heart. Worship manifests itself in praise. Serving God is worship and Scripture is clear we will serve God in Heaven. "His servants will serve Him" (Revelation 22:3)."
